The one area that I chose to focus in depth on is Japan. When I think of Japan I think of their clothing and their food. I think of how their styles and ways are probably much different from ours over here. But how different? Here's some of the research that I found on Japanese clothing and food.
Clothing:
Clothing:The Kimono is what most people think of when they think of Japanese clothing. Kimono translated means "the thing worn". Although it use to be everyday attire, it is now worn mainly for ceremonies, weddings, and celebrations. The Kimono is meant to conceal the bodys shape and can be decorated with paint, beads, and many different styles of fabric. Colors that are most commonly used in a kimono are red, purple, indigo, scarlet, and brown.
Besides the kimono, their everyday attire consists of skirts, jeans, t-shirts etc. However, it is far from plain. Their clothing has many different colors, patterns, images, and they use many different types of material, not just cloth. (The woman also usually wear their hair up in a type of bun or twist).
Food:
Some of the most popular japanese food cuisines are rice dishes, seafood dishes, noodle dishes, soya bean dishes, and nabe dishes. In Japan, a bowl of plain cooked rice is served with almost every meal. They have rice both by itself and plain or with other meat and sauces with it. Some things they add to their rice dishes is curry sauce, sushi, egg, peas, chicken, and beef. They'll even make rice balls and wrap them in sea weed. There are many different kinds of noodles that are eaten in Japan. Some include soba, udon, ramen, somen, and yakisoba noodles. All of which are different in some way and are eaten with different meals. I would love to go to Japan and try some true Japanese meals. Although some of it would be much different than what I'm use to, I think it would be really good and flavorful.
